BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (AP) The Education Minnesota teachers union has a new president.

Delegates at the Education Minnesota Representative Convention elected Denise Specht as president of the 70,000-member union on Saturday.

Specht has served as the union's secretary-treasurer since 2007. She ran against current president Tom Dooher.

The 47-year-old Specht said she would bring a more collaborative style to leadership of the state's largest union.

She will begin her three-year term July 1.
