PAYNESVILLE, Minn. (KNSI) A close call Tuesday for three Twin Cities men who were in a vehicle that crashed through the ice of Lake Koronis near Paynesville.
Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says the men were in an SUV on the northeast side of the lake when it crashed through the ice and into water that was three to four feet deep.
The men were able to climb out of the vehicle and walk to shore for help.
They're identified as 27 year-old Wong Thao of St. Paul, 29 year-old David Thao of Oakdale and 24 year-old Allen Thao of Maplewood.
Sanner says this latest incident is another example that ice is never 100-percent safe, and people need to take great care when driving any vehicle on ice.
