FOLEY, Minn. (KNSI) A man wanted by authorities in McLeod County on felony charges for neglecting a child apparently traveled through Benton County recently.
Chief Sheriff's Deputy Troy Heck says officers were called to check on a suspicious vehicle in Mayhew Lake Township on Monday afternoon.
The unoccupied car was parked in a swampy area of a field. The car is registered to 26 year-old Nicholas Kopf of Glencoe. Heck says Kopf has developed anti-government and anti-law enforcement beliefs that make him a dangerous individual. He may also be in possession of several weapons.
A ground and air search was conducted in the area where the car was found, but it's believed Kopf left the area on foot and may have been traveling to the Brainerd area.
He's five-feet-nine inches tall, 165 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark jacket and carrying a large green military-style backpack.
