ST. PAUL, Minn. (KNSI) Hunters who entered Minnesota's wolf license lottery but lost get another chance starting Monday.

Entrants who were not selected in either the early or late season wolf license lottery can buy a surplus license on a first-come, first-served basis starting at noon Monday. The Department of Natural Resources says 614 surplus licenses that weren't claimed by lottery winners are available for the early season, which begins Nov. 3 and coincides with the firearms deer season. Any remaining early-season licenses will be offered to any eligible hunter starting Thursday.

The DNR allocated 3,600 wolf licenses for the early season. The remaining 2,400 licenses are for the late season, which begins Nov. 24, and concludes Jan. 31. Trappers were allocated 600 late-season licenses. The DNR has set a quota of 400 wolves.
