ST. PAUL, Minn. (KNSI) - A bill to legalize Sunday liquor sales is expected to surface early in the 2014 legislative session.
D-F-L Senator Roger Reinert of Duluth says not allowing businesses that want to sell on Sunday's to do so is government intrusion into the private sector.
Reinert says we have businesses that want to be open so if we're all about business - especially small business - why wouldn't we just step out of this?
The bill simply makes it permissible for liquor stores to be open on Sunday, and in no way requires them to do so.
Governor Dayton has indicated he would sign the legislation if it reaches his office.
