MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The toddler who was hit by a stray bullet while inside a Minneapolis house on Monday night has died.
A spokeswoman for North Memorial Hospital tells the Star Tribune the boy died about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Police spokesman Sgt. Steve McCarty says the bullet that hit the 3-year-old boy came from outside the home, but there was no evidence that people inside had been targeted.
He says the city's ShotSpotter system notified police of shots fired at 6:50 p.m. Monday.
No suspects were in custody on Tuesday. The police want anyone with information to call the department's TIPS line at 612-692-TIPS (8477).
In 2002, 11-year-old Tyesha Edwards was killed by a stray bullet as she did homework in her south Minneapolis home.
