MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (AP) A September storm packing high winds, hail and heavy rain has swept across central Minnesota, knocking down trees and cutting power.

Power outages were reported in western and northern suburbs of the Twin Cities. Xcel Energy reports more than 20,000 customers without power early Thursday afternoon.

The National Weather Service says winds in Hutchinson topped 45 mph and sent a large tree onto a vehicle, leaving one person with minor injuries. A tree also fell onto a house southwest of Rush City.

Hail measuring 2 inches in diameter is reported south of Cambridge, and nearly 3 inches of rain fell a few miles northeast of Big Lake and in Zimmerman.

The weather service says winds measuring 77 mph were reported in Renville in western Minnesota.
