ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) The National Weather Service Office in Chanhassen has issued a Winter Storm Watch for western and central Minnesota from late Saturday night through late Sunday night.

Snow is expected to arrive during the overnight hours Saturday night and persist into Sunday night.

Snowfall totals in excess of 6 to 8 inches are possible.

North-northwest winds will increase to 20 to 30 miles per hour Sunday afternoon and Sunday night, with gusts in excess of 35 miles per hour. The strong winds will create areas of blowing and drifting snow, leading to white out conditions in some areas.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

Some cities in the Winter Storm Watch include St. Cloud, Alexandria, Little Falls, Morris, Glenwood, Montevideo, Cambridge, Willmar and Litchfield.
