ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - A man allegedly driving a stolen car crashed on Interstate 94 near St. Cloud and then eluded authorities for a few hours before being apprehended.
Around 9 p.m. Saturday state troopers were in pursuit of a vehicle on Interstate 94 coming up from St. Louis Park, where it was allegedly stolen.
A trooper deployed stop sticks on Interstate 94 near St. Cloud, and the suspect ran over them, disabling the car.
The car came to rest in the median near County Road 6 and the man jumped out and ran south towards Rockville.
State troopers, as well as police from St. Cloud, St. Joseph, Waite Park, Sartell and Stearns County scoured the area with spotlights and flashlights.
A K-9 was brought in and a helicopter was even called in, but police still couldn't locate the suspect.
Then, around 11 p.m. two homeowners on Bluebird Lane in Pleasant Lake called 911 and reported a man was looking in their windows.
The description the homeowners gave matched the description of the suspect perfectly and a responding officer took the man into custody.
Jail records show the suspect is 20-year-old Zaki Mohamed from Houston, Texas.
