ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) It doesn't look the issue issue of a monthly stipend for St. Cloud City Council members will be discussed in a public forum anytime soon.

At a work session Monday night, the council agreed to take the topic to the public for feedback. But Council President John Libert tells the St. Cloud Times he's directed city staff to not put the item on a future council meeting agenda. He says there's not enough interest on the council to move forward with discussion.

Councilman George Hontos asked the council to consider adding a $200 monthly stipend to cover out-of-pocket expenses for things like gas and cell phone bills.

Libert says now is not the time to discuss the stipend, but he says it could come up for discussion sometime next year.
