Stipend discussion ends in St. Cloud

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) There was talk last week about the possibility of St. Cloud City Council members being reimbursed for out-of-pocket costs associated with their job.

On Monday night, the council voted to postpone indefinitely any discussion about a montly stipend for themselves.

Councilman George Hontos floated the idea of a $200 monthly stipend to cover costs for things like gas and cell phone bills.

Hontos still supports his idea, but given the sensitive nature of the topic, he made the motion to postpone discussion indefinitely.

Mayor Dave Kleis was a vocal critic of a stipend.
