Stearns County wins national best website award

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - Just 18 months after a complete overhaul, Stearns County was honored as owner of the best county government web site in the nation.

The recognition, issued as part of the Center for Digital Government's Best of the Web awards, cited Stearns website as the country's finest example of innovation, functionality and efficiency in offering county government information and services.

Stearns online efforts were cited for its straightforward navigation, interactive mapping features, online payment systems and use of social media.

The site also won a Digital Government Achievement Award in the Government to Citizen category for its public safety services, particularly the Stearns County 10 Most Wanted as well as search features to check current and past Stearns County Jail inmate records.

According to the county, the website serves over 25,000 people a month.
