ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) The longtime parks director for Stearns County announced his retirement plans Tuesday.
Chuck Wocken told county commissioners he plans to retire in February.
Wocken went to work for the county in 1975, and became parks director in 1980. At that time, the county had only three parks totaling 250 acres, and no recreational trails.
Today, there are 19 parks in Stearns County totaling more than 2,600 acres, and the Lake Wobegon Regional Trail--which runs from St. Joseph to Osakis--draws hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
