ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - Long-time St. Cloud Metro bus administrator Tony Kellen was honored as the 2011 Minnesota Transit Professional of the Year last week.

Kellen, who has served as Metro Bus director of operations and technology since 1986, received the award at the Minnesota Public Transit Association annual conference in St. Paul Oct. 12.

The award is given to someone who designed and implemented a specific program demonstrating innovative concepts or effective problem-solving techniques, according to Metro Bus.

Kellen has also served as President of the Minnesota Public Transit Association since 2005.

"Tony Kellen's heart has been in our world of public transit for over 25 years," said Metro Bus Executive Director Dave Tripp. "The citizens of not only the St. Cloud metropolitan area, but also statewide are better off today because of that and his thirst for bringing efficient and effective change to their public transportation mobility needs."
