ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - Authorities identified a St. Cloud woman killed after being struck while trying to cross train tracks late Sunday, according to St. Cloud police.
Sharlean Laitinen, 37, of St. Cloud was hit just before midnight Sunday night along East St. Germaine straight near the Amtrak rail station.
Investigators aid Laitinen and a man were walking on East St. Germain when they tried to beat the train across the tracks. The man made it across, but Laitinen was hit. She was still alive when emergency crews arrived. Laitinen was transported to St. Cloud Hospital, where she died a short time later.
Witnesses to the accident said the train track crossing arms were down and there was no evidence of foul play involved in Laitinen's death.
