ST. CLOUD, MN (KNSI) - The St. Cloud VA announced it is adding more staff to support mental health operations for veterans in the area. The VA estimates another nine positions will be added in St. Cloud, and recruitment to fill those positions is underway.
The St. Cloud V-A has seen a 29-percent increase in the number of veterans receiving mental health services since 2006. The new staff members will join a team that is already actively treating veterans battling mental illness and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Most of its new staff members are expected to be hired locally within six months.
Currently, 226 mental health clinicians and support staff work locally supporting central Minnesota veterans at the St. Cloud V-A, and outpatient clinics in Alexandria, Brainerd and Montevideo.
