ST. PAUL, Minn. (KNSI) New numbers from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development show the St. Cloud Metropolitan Statistical Area has an unemployment rate of 5.5% in August. That's down from 5.9% in July.
St. Cloud's jobless rate was in the middle of the pack when compared to other metropolitan areas of the state. Rochester's unemployment rate in August was 4.7%, Mankato was at 5%, Minneapolis-St. Paul at 5.7%, and Duluth was highest at 6.7%.
Nationally, the unemployment rate in August was 8.1%.
