ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) It wasn't much, but the rain gauge at St. Cloud Regional Airport saw some action for the first time this month on Thursday.

The airport recorded .09 of an inch of rain up until midnight--the first measurable precipitation in October.

St. Cloud is running almost five-inches below normal for rainfall since September 1st, and the new Drought Monitor map released Thursday puts central Minnesota--including Stearns County--in severe to extreme drought conditions.

Forecasters say another quarter of an inch of rain could fall in the area today before it dries out for the weekend.
