ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - Last year, it was one of the surprise hits of the St. Cloud convention season, hosting a crowd of about 2,000 while turning away hundreds more.
But now, organizers say with a year of experience under their belts -- not to mention a newly-expanded St. Cloud River's Edge convention Center at their disposal -- the 2nd annual St. Cloud Craft Beer Expo Saturday is set to be bigger and better than last year.

Founder Mark Opdahl said the 2012 celebration of microbreweries will feature more than 60 brewers from around the central Minnesota region as well as national and international vendors, all showcasing the best in beers.

In addition to sampling the full variety of brews available, the event also showcasing experts and seminars focused on beer education for fans and budding brewmasters alike. Sessions including Homebrewing 101, cask conditioned beers, St. Cloud brewing history and perfect beer and cheese pairings.
The event runs from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the River's Edge. Tickets are $30 at the door, $10 if you're a non-drinking designated driver. Only persons 21 years or older with a valid ID can enter the Beer Expo grounds.
A limited number of spots are available for the educational presentations, so Opdahl recommends signing up early at the designated area at the Expo to reserve a spot. Cost is free on a first come first served basis.
