ST. CLOUD, MN (KNSI) - If you build a new, single-family home in St. Cloud this year, you'll get a bit of a price break.

Last night, the city council on a 5-to-1 vote approved a proposal from Councilman George Hontos. It's called "Build It in St. Cloud." It shaves off 15-hundred dollars in city fees.

Mayor Dave Kleis says he doesn't think that's enough money to stimulate new housing construction. Hontos responded by saying "What's wrong with trying something? We don't have a great downside here."

All but Councilwoman Sonja Berg agreed. The fee reduction will run through the end of the year.
