ST. AUGUSTA, Minn. (KNSI) - Sheriff's deputies cited more than 50 underage drinkers after a tip led to a raid at a large weekend teen house party in St. Augusta Friday, according to Stearns County sheriff's officials.
An outside source alert deputies to the party set to happen Friday night at a home on the 22100 block of 43rd Avenue in St. August, Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner said. The home was also the location of previous parties with underage drinking broken up in the past three months.
Officers arrived to find several vehicles parked around the house, including many hidden behind surrounding out buildings. Between 20 to 25 partygoers dropped alcoholic beverages and ran as deputies drove up to the home, but officers were able to corral dozens of other underage revellers.
Sanner said deputies were forced to hunt for many hiding partyers, including people in the home's attic, inside a plastic container and behind the water heater.
Fifty-two citations were issued for minors consuming alcohol. An additional citation was issued for an outdoor bonfire burning beyond regulation size without a burning permit.
Minnesota State Patrol troopers aided Stearns County deputies in the raid.
