ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The St. Paul City Council is expected to approve a $45,000 settlement this week with a man who claimed an officer slammed his head into a wall, knocking him unconscious.

Reports say the settlement agreement says the deal is the compromise of a "disputed claim" and isn't an admission of liability. The city council is slated to approve the deal Wednesday.

Stephen M. Wolfe says police responded in 2011 after someone was pounding on his door and claimed Wolfe pointed a gun at him. Wolfe says police handcuffed him immediately.

He says he asked why the other man wasn't being detained, and an officer slammed his head into a wall.

The city denies Wolfe's account.
