ST. JOSEPH, Minn. (KNSI) The St. Joseph City Council has unanimously passed an ordinance change that will allow people who are having trouble selling their homes to rent them out.
The change will allow homeowners to rent out their property if they've lived in it for at least two years, and it's been on the market for at least three months without any takers.
If those conditions are met, the homeowner can apply for what's called an interim-use permit.
St. Joseph Mayor Rick Schultz says the Planning Commission will revisit the issue in 18 months to see how well the change is working.
