St. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) St. Cloud police are investigating a hit and run accident in which a vehicle ran into an apartment building.

It happened Sunday night, just before 9pm in the 1400 block of 12th Avenue South.

Sergeant Jason Burke says 18 year-old Violet Hopkins of St. Cloud took a corner too fast, lost control of her vehicle and struck an exterior wall of the building.

Hopkins fled after the crash, but was later located by police.

There were no injuries due to the crash. The Red Cross provided shelter for six families that were removed from the building due to safety concerns.

Hopkins was cited and released for reckless driving, hit and run accident, and driver without a valid license.
