ST. CLOUD (KNSI) - Get ready for a serious blast of winter - The National Weather Service has upgraded the St. Cloud area to a Winter Storm Warning.

NWS meteorologists say we should expect between three to six inches of heavy and blowing snow between now and this afternoon, with windspeeds between 15 and 25 mph.

The snowfall is expected to taper off later this evening.

Forecasters are warning of difficult travel conditions during today's afternoon and evening commute, with potential blizzard and whiteout conditions, especially in open or exposed area.

If you must travel, you're advised to slow down significantly and have an emergency kit on hand.

The Winter Storm Warning is set to expire on Friday at noon.
