LIVINGSTON, Mont. (AP) — Officials in south-central Montana say they have a warrant for the arrest of a St. Cloud truck driver, suspected of hitting and killing a man on Interstate 90 near Big Timber in September.

The Sweet Grass County sheriff's office is searching for 45-year-old David Welk of St. Cloud in the Sept. 30 death of 81-year-old Elgie Bedford of Wasilla, Alaska.

Court records indicate Welk's driving partner called the Montana Highway Patrol in October and said he was in the sleeping area of the truck when the truck collided with something. Michael Karls of Phoenix said Welk began yelling that he'd hit someone.

Karls said they returned to the spot and that Welk told him there was just some clothing and a duffel bag in the road.
