St. Cloud PD identifies accident victim

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) St. Cloud police have released the name of a man who died last week after his vehicle crashed into a school building.

Sixty five year-old George Edward Banks of St. Cloud was driving on Wilson Avenue Friday afternoon when the vehicle left the road, traveled approximately one block, and then smashed into the northwest corner of St. Katharine Drexel School.

Four adults were in a room near where the vehicle made impact, but they were not injured.

Banks was found unconcious behind the wheel. He was taken to St. Cloud Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police believe Banks suffered a medical episode that caused him to lose control of the vehicle.

The school was evacuated after the accident due to uncertainty about the structural integrity of the building, but classes resumed as scheduled on Monday.
