CANTON, S.D. (KNSI) Two Minnesota men accused of attacking the assistant police chief in the southeastern South Dakota city of Canton have pleaded not guilty.
Thirty-year-old Jordan Blevins of St. Cloud, and 23-year-old Samuel Miland of Spring Valley face charges of assault, resisting arrest and obstruction of an officer in the Oct. 17 incident. Both men are scheduled to stand trial in mid-March.
Authorities allege that Miland assaulted Assistant Police Chief Dave Jacobs during a traffic stop and that Blevins scuffled with Lincoln County deputies who responded to the scene to provide backup.
Jacobs suffered a broken nose, scrapes and bruises. He returned to work a week later.
