ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) The St. Cloud Airport control tower--which had been slated to close due to federal budget cuts--will now remain open through at least the ned of the federal budget year on September 30th.
The announcement came Friday from the U.S. Transportation Department.
The Anoka Airport control tower has also been taken off the chopping block.
The St. Cloud tower was initially slated to close on April 21st, and then June 15th.
St. Cloud Airport Director Bill Towle was happy to hear the news. He says keeping the control tower open will make the airport safer.
