ST. JOSEPH, Minn. (KNSI) - A big day of fundraising is in progress for organizations around the state, but one recipient is already finished.
The College of St. Benedict says they exceeded their expectations by raising $240,539, starting at midnight on Wednesday, through their website givecsb.com.
The college opted not to participate in GiveMN's "Give to the Max" day, and instead created their own fundraiser 24 hour fundraiser called "100K in a Day."
In a 24 hour period, the college reports raising 2.5 times their goal, exceeding $100,000 by 11 am yesterday.
A total of 780 people gave money, with five donors also pledging a total of $50,000 in matching funds.
Last year, St. Ben's participated in Give to the Max day. The college says they opted to run yesertday's "100K in a Day" in honor of their 100 year anniversary.
