ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) A judge has granted a continuance in the hearing for a Sauk Rapids boy charged with murder.
Seventeen year-old Jesse Smithers was in court Tuesday. He's charged in the death of 20 year-old Colton Gleason last month.
Smithers attorney asked for more time to review the case file. Judge Frank Kundrat granted that request, and re-scheudled the hearing for October 9th at 10 am.
Smithers is alleged to have punched Gleason in a St. Cloud alley on the night of September 20th. Gleason hit his head when he fell and died the next day at St. Cloud Hospital.
Smithers is charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault and first-degree manslaughter. He's denied any involvement in Gleason's death. Prosecutors will seek to have him tried as an adult.
