HAM LAKE, Minn. (KNSI) The chairwoman of the Anoka County Board of Commissioners has become the second Republican to enter the race for the Sixth District congressional seat.

Rhonda Sivarajah announced her candidacy Wednesday  morning.

She joins former gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer in the GOP field. They have some past history. Sivarajah was the running mate to Emmer's Republican gubernatorial opponent-- Marty Seifert. Sivarajah says she and Bachmann share a lot of the same core beliefs, but she would take a more low-key approach than the highly-visible Bachmann.

There are now three candidates in the race--Sivarajah, Emmer and DFL'er Judy Adams of Circle Pines. Sivarajah is a St. Cloud State graduate, with a degree in international relations.
