LONG PRAIRIE, Minn. (KNSI) The Todd County Sheriff's Office is alerting people of a telephone scam.
A person with a Jamaican-style accent will call residences telling people to go to a nearby Walmart store and place money on a credit card, at which time they'll be a contest winner for Publisher's Clearing House and will have the option of taking a cash prize or a free round trip to Jamaica.
The sheriff's office says it's a scam. They say you should not give out any personal information over the phone.
If you're the target of one of these scams, you can contact the Todd County Sheriff's Office.
