PAYNESVILLE, Minn. (KNSI) A man who died after he was hit by a front-end loader in the rural Paynesville area has been identified.

The report from the Stearns County Sheriff's Department indicates that 69 year-old farm worker John Schoenberg was struck by a large front-loader around 8a.m. Wednesday morning.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Department says the incident happened on 240th Street in Zion Township.

According to deputies, Schoenberg had been walking in an area near a silage pit not normally used by pedestrians, and the driver of the loader wasn't able to see him.

Schoenberg was taken by ambulance to Paynesville Hospital where he later died. The incident remains under investigation.
