ELK RIVER, Minn. (KNSI) - If you've got an idea for a name for a new Sherburne County park, the county hopes to hear from you.
They're asking locals to offer up their thoughts on what to call the 63-acre parcel of land they're hoping to develop in Clear Lake Township along the banks of the Mississippi River.
Last month, the county said thanks, but no thanks to two naming suggestions for the new park -- Split Park and Michi Zeebee -- that's the Ojibwe term for "greatest river."
NAME THE PARK: Submit your suggestions to Sherburne County for the new park planned in Clear Lake Township
Sherburne County hopes to land Legacy Amendment money to built the new park this year -- but they want to get a name locked in by next month.
The master plan for the park includes trails, boardwalks, picnic/tent campsites, play ground areas, volleyball and disc golf and a boat landing.
Naming suggestions can be sent to the county's main offices at 13880 Business Center Drive NW, Elk River, MN 55330. You can also submit it through the Sherburne County website.
You've got until January 15 to get your name suggestion submitted to the county park commission.
