St. Cloud and other areas of central and southern Minnesota are also under a flash flood watch until 7 a.m. Monday.

Area rivers and streams are swollen by recent rain and any additional rainfall could lead to flooding, the National Weather Service said.

Thunderstorms with potential rainfall rates as high as two inches per hour or greater were expected to develop Sunday evening in western Minnesota.

Rainfall totals Sunday night into Monday morning were expected to be between 1 and 4 inches.
