ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for portions of Benton, Sherburne, Stearns and other central Minnesota counties, including the city of St. Cloud, as a weather system capable of producing hail and damaging winds moved through central Minnesota Sunday afternoon, the National Weather Service reported.
The warning covered Benton, western Sherburne and eastern Stearns counties as well as eastern Meeker, eastern Morrison and Wright counties until 6:30 p.m., the Service announced.
Cities covered in the warning in addition to St. Cloud included Little Falls, Buffalo, Darwin, Dassel, Cokato, Howard Lake, Waverly, Montrose, St. Nicholas, Cold Spring, Watkins, Kimball and South Haven.

Radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter-sized hail and damaging winds of 60 mph on a line stretching from Pillager to Litchfield around 5:23 p.m., the NWS reported.
A previous alert for northwestern Benton, northeastern Stearns and southeastern Morrison counties was in effect early Sunday afternoon, according to the NWS.
