ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) The St. Cloud State women's hockey team is finally returning home today after a long and eventful trip to the east coast.
The Huskies played a pair of games at Providence College in Rhode Island last weekend, and then got stuck there as they waited for what was Hurricane Sandy to pass.
Huskies coach Jeff Giesen says they didn't bear the brunt of the storm, but they certainly felt the effects of Sandy. He says it was very windy with horizontal rain coming down. He says it was like a thunderstorm that lasted eight hours.
The Huskies boarded a flight at Logan Airport in Boston this morning for their flight to Minneapolis, and then the bus trip back to St. Cloud.
Giesen says it'll be good to get home, especially since his team has opened the season with eight straight road games. They host Ohio State this weekend.
