ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) The results of a new study are out on the economic impact two institutions of higher education have on the St. Cloud area economy.
The study conducted by Wilder Research shows St. Cloud State and St. Cloud Technical and Community College combined generate $640 million in annual economic activity, and generate just over 8,000 jobs.
The study also shows the two schools generating some $36 million in state and local tax revenue.
SCTCC President Joyce Helens says "our operations and the economic activity generated by our faculty, staff and students touch virtually every corner of our regional economy and support local business and industry."
On a statewide level, the Wilder study shows the seven state universities and 24 community and technical colleges that are part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System have an annual economic impact of $8,3 billion, and generate more than 80,000 jobs.
