AVON, Minn. (KNSI) - A Sauk Rapids woman died and another person was injured after their motorcycle collided with a deer on a Stearns County road in Avon Township Wednesday, according to the Stearns County Sheriff's Department.

Laura Tenvoorde-Behrend of Sauk Rapids was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Stearns County Road 155 south of 355th Street in Avon Wednesday evening, Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner said.

Tenvoorde-Behrend, 47, was a passenger on the 1994 Harley Davidson motorcycle when the northbound vehicle hit the animal just before 8 p.m.

The motorcycle's driver, David Behrend, 49, was taken by ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital. He was listed in critical condition Thursday morning, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Sanner said neither person was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
