SAUK RAPIDS, MN (KNSI) - The Sauk Rapids-Rice School District is one of 42 districts in Minnesota without an operational levy, but that could change.
The school board began discussing a possible referendum at a work session last month, and asked Superintendent Dan Bittman to send out a community survey to see what kind of support there is for the idea. Bittman told the board last night the district received 500 completed surveys, and 87-percent are in support of an operational levy.
Bittman says 94-percent of respondents want to know exactly how much money would be levied, and how the money would be used. The school district has until August 24th to notify the state whether it will seek an operating levy referendum.
