SARTELL, MN (KNSI) - Sartell Police Chief Jim Hughes will spend part of this 9-11 anniversary talking about a terrible tragedy--not the one that happened on this date at the World Trade Center Towers and the Pentagon--but one much closer to home.
Hughes will meet with senior citizens at 2 p.m. at Sartell City Hall to recap the chain of events that occurred on Memorial Day, when the Verso paper mill was rocked by an explosion and fire.
The presentation will feature recordings of the many 911 calls police dispatch received in the moments following the explosion, and he'll give details about the massive response that was required by law enforcement agencies and fire departments across the region.
Hughes gave a similar presentation last month at Sartell's Country Manor.
