SARTELL, Minn. (AP) - The Sartell-St. Stephen school board won't reconsider a decision to cancel spring break, despite mounting pressure from students and parents.
More than 150 people crowded into a meeting room Monday to ask school board members to rescind their decision and survey families before reconsider the move.
Students say they gathered more than 300 signatures asking the board to reconsider. Board members voted last month to end the weeklong break in favor of a number of long weekends.
The St. Cloud Times says parents and students say the weeklong break is necessary to schedule college visits and family trips. Parent Tammy Ferns says parents should have been part of the decision-making process.
