SARTELL, Minn. (AP) - A Minnesota man who slept in a tent for 18 days to call attention to homelessness has raised $10,000 for charity.
Eric Jungels of Sartell says his goal was to raise money and attention for the homeless. He initially hoped to raise $5,000, but he got such strong support that he doubled his goal.
A St. Cloud Times report says he reached his goal Friday. Jungels said he was grateful _ and looking forward to sleeping in his own bed.
He says the experience challenged his assumptions about the homeless. He says many of them are dealing with issues outside their control. He says he can fall back on his family, but not everyone can do the same.
The money will go to the National Alliance to End Homelessness.
