SARTELL,, Minn. (KNSI) Department heads working for the city of Sartell are about to get fatter paychecks.
Last night, the city council voted 3-to-2 to increase the salaries of most department heads by between five-and-a-half and six-and-a-half percent.
They've not had pay raises since 2009--receiving only one percent annual cost-of-living increases during that time.
Mayor Joe Perske voted against the salary increases. He says he took a number of calls and got e-mails from residents concerned about the size of the salary increases and the timing of them.
Councilman David Peterson also voted "no." He suggested a two-percent pay raise for all department heads this year.
