SARTELL, Minn. (KNSI) The city of Sartell is waiting to be reimbursed for their costs associated with fighting a massive weeklong fire a the Verso paper mill in late May and early June.
City Administrator Patti Gartland says they recently submitted a bill to Verso in the amount of $397,679. Verso in turn submitted that bill to their insurance company, and the city is now waiting for a response.
Gartland says even though the mill has been shuttered for good, Verso will be taking steps to winterize the facility and fully secure the site from would-be trespassers.
Verso is also looking for someone to buy the property and redevelop it. Gartland says those talks are still in their early stages.
