BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (AP) - Officials at the Mall of America and Bloomington police are investigating whether rumors of rap stars performing at the mall, fueled by social media, contributed to a disturbance involving more than 200 young people.
The Star Tribune reports Twitter buzzed Sunday and Monday with unfounded rumors that rappers Lil Wayne and Drake were going to be at the Bloomington mall on the day after Christmas.
Police and mall officials say the incident began around 4:20 p.m. Monday as a fight among a large group of young people in a food court, and that it spread through the nation's largest shopping and entertainment complex. Ten people were arrested.
Officials said Tuesday they planned to beef up security indefinitely and review procedures, including policies on adult supervision of juveniles.
