MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (AP) Longtime University of Minnesota general counsel Mark Rotenberg has resigned to become vice president and general counsel of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

The University of Minnesota announced Rotenberg's resignation Monday. He will move to his new position on June 3.

Rotenberg has been general counsel at Minnesota for 20 years. His career was intertwined with many of the biggest sports stories to come out of the university, including the paper-writing scandal under then-Gopher basketball coach Clem Haskins, the negotiation of the naming rights and sponsorship of TCF Bank Football Stadium, and the lease for the Minnesota Vikings to play on campus after the Metrodome roof collapse.

Rotenberg served under four presidents and 11 Board of Regents chairs.
