ROSEVILLE, Minn. (AP) - The Washington County attorney's office said Monday a fatal shooting by two Roseville police officers last November was justified.
No criminal charges will be brought against Officers Grant Dattilo and Joseph Adams in the shooting death of Wayne Malone. A summary report from the lead investigator says the two officers encountered Malone Nov. 17 and that he was armed with a pellet gun. The officers retreated and repeatedly told Malone to drop his gun.
When Malone raised the pellet gun, the officers fired eight times. Malone was struck twice and died. The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports investigator Fred Fink said the officers felt a need to protect themselves from possible harm.
