ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) St. Cloud police are asking drivers in the city to lighten up on the accelerator.

Sergeant Jason Burke e-mailed the media Thursday morning saying, "roadways throughout St. Cloud have black ice conditions, and multiple accidents are occuring."

Wednesday's blowing and drifting snow across road surfaces was following by bitterly cold air Thursday morning. Temperatures won't get above zero Thursday, but then temperatures will spike to near 30 degrees on Friday.

It will be short lived however, with weekend highs around 10, and subzero high temperatures by early next week.
